At EQUAL Living, we believe that privacy and ease are not just luxuries but necessities. That's why our accommodations feature DDA Accessible ensuites in every room, ensuring that your most personal space is designed to be fully wheelchair accessible.

Our ensuites are meticulously designed with ample space for manoeuvrability, allowing for complete freedom of movement. The spacious layout is thoughtfully planned to accommodate the turning radius of a wheelchair, ensuring ease of access to all fixtures.

Safety grab rails are strategically positioned to provide support where needed, and non-slip flooring is installed to reduce the risk of falls. The sink and vanity areas are constructed at an accessible height, and we provide roll-in showers with handheld showerheads for full autonomy in your personal care routine.

Our Common areas Building Skills in the Heart of the Home

Electrically operated lowering benchtop

The kitchen is often described as the heart of the home, and in our MTA and STA facilities, it is also a hub of learning and empowerment. Our communal kitchen is equipped with electric lowering benches that can be adjusted to suit the height requirements of each individual. This feature allows residents to comfortably prepare meals, engage in cooking activities, and learn new recipes in an environment that adapts to their physical needs.

Our kitchens are designed to Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) standards. An SDA compliant kitchen has ovens installed at a suitable height for wheelchair use, pull out pantries, task lighting, and adjustable benchtops.

By integrating assistive kitchen technology, we support NDIS participants in increasing their independence in daily living tasks. The adjustable benches are particularly beneficial for residents who may be using wheelchairs or other mobility aids, as they can independently adjust the height of the work surfaces without the need for assistance.

A Place to Learn and Grow

The common kitchen area is not just about meal preparation; it's a space where residents can come together to share experiences, learn from one another, and engage in cooking classes designed to teach new skills. Our goal is to create opportunities for participants to practice and enhance their culinary abilities, which is an important aspect of living independently.

Supporting Transition to Independent Living

For those transitioning from MTA to permanent housing, our common kitchen facilities serve as a training ground to master the use of technology and aids that they might choose to install in their own homes. This hands-on experience ensures that when the time comes to move, our residents are well-prepared to incorporate what they've learned into their everyday routines, fostering a sense of confidence and self-reliance.

At EQUAL Living, our commitment to your independence and well-being is reflected in every detail. By incorporating these assistive technologies into our facilities, we empower you to live life on your terms.
